Dialogue with Angels — A Flute and Harp Musical Feast
Exhibition Period|2020/12/12
"Dialogue with Angels" is a delightful joint concert presented by Taipei City's D'an Community College ensembles, "Fun & Easy Mini Harp" and "The Joy of Flute Ensemble." Coinciding with the upcoming Christmas season, the performance opens with the enchanting strains of the traditional holiday carol, God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen, performed on the harp. The program then glides into a rich repertoire of harp selections that transcend eras and borders, featuring Lu Chuan-sheng’s timeless Taiwanese art song If We Open the Windows of Our Hearts, the show-stopping ballad Think of Me from the American musical The Phantom of the Opera, as well as classical masterpieces by Vivaldi and Handel. Midway through the performance, the harp and flute ensembles unite for a festive collaboration, breathing life into seasonal favorites like Silent Night and Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town. Moving into the second half of the evening, "The Joy of Flute Ensemble" treats the audience to a nostalgic medley of instantly recognizable cinema and animation soundtracks, leaping from Sailor Moon to Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea. The concert reaches its grand finale with a breathtaking trio for flute, piano, and cello performing Astor Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires: Spring, bringing a perfect close to the evening and wrapping the winter chill in a warm, unforgettable auditory feast.
