The Ming Wei Education Foundation’s commitment to promoting art began in healthcare settings. During the ceremony, Foundation Board Member Liu Keng-Wei shared that medical environments are often marked by long periods of waiting and considerable physical and emotional stress. The Foundation therefore hopes to bring art into hospitals, offering patients, their families, and healthcare professionals a sense of warmth, tranquility, and companionship.
Through its continued engagement with art in healthcare, the Foundation has also recognized the challenges many emerging artists face after leaving school, particularly the limited availability of exhibition opportunities and professional platforms. For this reason, the Ming Wei Emerging Art Award is more than simply a competition—it is dedicated to building a long-term platform that nurtures, supports, and empowers the next generation of artists.
