Creative Genesis — Department of Cultural Enterprise Development Class of 2016 Graduation Exhibition

Exhibition Period|2020/01/01~01/12

This exhibition presented the graduation works of the Class of 2016 students from the Department of Cultural Enterprise Development at NTUT. Titled Creative Genesis, the exhibition theme symbolized a world of endless vitality born from the intersection of diverse cultural forms. The exhibition space was organized around four major themes: interpersonal relationships, everyday life, land, and craftsmanship, featuring a total of 34 works. In addition to being exhibited at the NTUT Arts Center, part of the exhibition was also held at the historic Bopiliao Historic Block, accompanied by lectures and workshops that enriched the exhibition experience.

Among the featured works was the comic Spring Breeze Melodies, centered on Deng Yu-Hsien, known as the “Father of Taiwanese Folk Songs.” Another work, Core Woman, was inspired by Lin Haiyin’s novel The Pleated Skirt of the Golden Carp, transforming the changing female consciousness of the late Qing and early Republican eras into a bamboo-woven lighting installation. In addition to learning traditional bamboo weaving techniques from master craftsmen, the creators integrated modern smart technologies, demonstrating a harmonious collaboration between tradition and innovation.

Another work, Zhang Tile Auspiciousness, drew from local cultural特色 by combining Changhua’s red brick culture, carving craftsmanship, and traditional Taiwanese auspicious motifs. Designed in the form of the “Four Treasures of the Study,” the work embodied both deep cultural meaning and practical functionality.

Through profound reflections on their own cultural contexts, the students transformed personal and local experiences into creative inspiration. By combining traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, the works expressed care and concern for everyday life and the land through diverse artistic forms, showcasing distinctive creativity and refined design abilities while continuously renewing cultural traditions across generations.
