Boundaries — Joint Exhibition of Six Contemporary Taiwanese Photographers

Photography enjoys immense popularity among the faculty, staff, and students of Taipei Tech. To answer this passionate enthusiasm, the Arts and Culture Center is deeply honored to present "Encountering Photographers: Boundaries." We are incredibly privileged to welcome six of Taiwan's most celebrated photographic masters—Quo Ying-sheng, Kang Tai-sheng, Han Si-ling, Liu Chen-hsiang, Wei-Chun Lan (牧師馮君藍), and Teng Po-jen—as they come together to champion aesthetic education on our campus. The exhibition showcases a highly diverse array of photographic genres. Here, distinct aesthetic philosophies engage in a simultaneous dialogue across time and space, while beautifully preserving each artist’s singular style and form. Sourced directly from the textures of daily life, every one of the hundred-plus pieces on display strikes a resonant chord within the soul. Some works echo the profound loneliness hidden in the human heart while maintaining an exquisite tenderness. Others lay bare the raw, unfiltered realities of life; though these truths can be daunting to confront, I believe that viewers will join me in ultimately choosing to face and embrace the "self" residing deep within. The most vulnerable and gentle recesses of the human psyche are captured in the exact split-second the photographers press the shutter, forging an instant, empathetic connection with the audience. We trust that this exceptional exhibition will not only offer our young scholars a top-tier visual experience but also subtly cultivate their aesthetic literacy, planting lasting seeds of inspiration in their hearts. We extend our highest respect to our participating masters—Quo Ying-sheng, Kang Tai-sheng, Han Si-ling, Liu Chen-hsiang, Wei-Chun Lan, and Teng Po-jen—and offer our heartfelt thanks for bringing this rare and spectacular artistic feast to Taipei Tech at the dawn of early autumn.
