Expansion Project — Industry-Academia Furniture and Woodworking Program Exhibition by the Department of Industrial Design

Exhibition Period|2024/07/02~07/13

Ideas have no endpoint, and creation knows no limits. The Industry-Academia Furniture and Woodworking Program of the Department of Industrial Design held its成果 exhibition at the NTUT Arts Center under the theme “Expansion Project.” The exhibition illustrates the journey of design—from creating something out of nothing to collaborating across different fields—where countless challenges and unexpected situations inevitably arise. These experiences are all infused into the “object” we inhabit, slowly drifting through space until they collide with one another, combine into new forces, and ultimately transform through breakthrough and blossoming. One notable feature of the exhibition is its mascot, “Peng Peng,” designed from the rounded seal-script character for “wood” (木). The inspiration comes from wood itself, symbolizing stability, growth, and prosperity. Its grain and texture embody both resilience and vitality, representing not only the material most familiar to the woodworking students, but also the enduring spirit they hold toward design. Through skilled craftsmanship and thoughtful integration of humanistic elements, the students successfully addressed practical design challenges, making these works one of the highlights of the exhibition.
