The Boundless Love of Mountains and Oceans: The Beauty of Indigenous Countenance — The 10th Taiwan Indigenous Poster Biennale

Exhibition period|2025/02/26~03/15

The theme of this exhibition, "The Boundless Love of Mountains and Oceans: The Beauty of Indigenous Countenance," explores the historical context of Taiwan’s Indigenous peoples. Throughout shifting eras, they have not only interacted with one another but have also encountered different nations and external ethnic groups. These layers of exchange have shaped the diverse tapestry of modern Indigenous culture today. Rooted in the beautiful ideal that all cultures deserve mutual respect, the phrase "The Boundless Love of Mountains and Oceans" naturally came to light, symbolizing an embrace that encompasses the thousands of mountains, rivers, ethnic groups, and tribes. Building upon this profound love, "The Beauty of Indigenous Countenance" invites us to contemplate what the face of contemporary or future Taiwanese Indigenous culture should look like, and whether it can still preserve its original, pristine, and foundational essence. Furthermore, in Mandarin, "Indigenous Countenance" (Yuan-Rong) is a homophone for "Harmony and Inclusivity" (Yuan-Rong). It expresses a hope that all ethnic groups on this island can cooperate with empathy, embrace one another, and stand together as one to safeguard the local culture of Taiwan.
