Exhibition Period|2020/05/02~05/15
The 2020 graduation exhibition of the Department of Industrial Design at NTUT adopted the theme Addition & Subtraction. The concept itself reflects the essence of the design process — continuously adjusting, refining, adding, and removing elements according to different needs in order to create products that are more practical, accessible, and closely connected to everyday life.
This year’s exhibition also involved collaborations and promotional support from various enterprises. In addition to the on-campus exhibition, the works were scheduled to participate in the Young Designers’ Exhibition. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, an online portfolio platform was also established, allowing audiences unable to attend in person to experience the exhibition remotely.
The graduating students’ works received significant recognition at the Golden Pin Design Award for Young Designers. A total of 21 projects were nominated across 23 award categories, demonstrating the strong design capabilities of NTUT students.
Among the highlighted projects was Daily-Deli Delivery Box, designed in response to the rise of the food delivery economy by addressing rider safety and internal box stability during transportation. COOKIE, designed for renters, utilized modular VORK panels, perforated boards, and connectors that allowed users to freely assemble furniture according to their needs. Units Compression Packing System addressed the challenges of carrying fragile items and efficiently packing clothing during travel. Meanwhile, DOUBLE BAG Multifunctional Insulated Shopping Bag responded to global plastic reduction trends by functioning both as a lunch insulation bag and a grocery cooling bag.
These four projects advanced to the final round of the Golden Pin Young Designers Sponsorship Special Award. Another project, SAVIOUR Modular Teaching Swim Equipment, which addressed drowning prevention while utilizing recycled plastic bottles, was selected as a finalist for the Golden Pin Young Designers Circular Design Special Award, further showcasing the students’ innovative design energy and social awareness.
Inspired by the concept of “addition and subtraction,” the 72 graduating students sought to balance aesthetics and daily life, hoping to bring design and beauty closer to society while presenting the成果 of four years of learning and their abundant creative potential.
