Exhibition Period|2021/01/15~02/07
This exhibition serves as a vital cornerstone of the "Joy and Sorrow Intertwined: Returning in Dreams to Li Shu-tong" commemorative series curated by the Taiwan Cultural and Artistic Alliance. Initiated with a debut concert in Kaohsiung in December 2019, this multi-city initiative has continuously honored the humanistic spirit and monumental artistic achievements of Grand Master Hong Yi (Li Shu-tong) through cultural lectures, touring concerts, and fine art exhibitions. Grand Master Hong Yi was a man of transcendent brilliance. He was a master of poetry, painting, calligraphy, seal carving, music, theater, and literature; his timeless composition, Farewell Song, continues to be sung across generations. His calligraphy is celebrated for its pure, unadorned simplicity and harmonious roundness—appearing as effortless and natural as if formed by heaven itself. As a renowned modern artist and educator, he dedicated his life to making superlative contributions to Chinese art and culture. In this special exhibition, over one hundred contemporary calligraphy masters from Taiwan have gathered to pay eternal tribute to this great spiritual leader. By brushing Master Hong Yi’s iconic poetry, songs, words of wisdom, Buddhist teachings, and sacred scriptures, these contemporary artists look to propagate his core tenets of loving-kindness, compassion, empathetic joy, and equanimity, sharing the transformative art of calligraphy with all who walk this path.
