Department of Industrial Design Class of 2021 Graduation Exhibition

Exhibition Period|2021/04/28~05/10

Organized by 78 emerging designers from the graduating class, this year’s Taipei Tech Industrial Design Graduation Exhibition synthesizes four years of rigorous university training and converts theory into vibrant creative energy. Aiming to tackle various contemporary global challenges through design, the students have focused on areas that align with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including eliminating poverty, ensuring health and well-being, gender equality, sustainable consumption and production, and fostering inclusive, safe communities. The resulting works are highly diverse, socially relevant, and carry significant potential for commercialization. The exceptional design capabilities of this graduating class are further evidenced by their strong showing at the Golden Pin Concept Design Award, where 19 exhibiting works secured a total of 25 nominations. Among them, seven standout creations advanced to the final round for the coveted Golden Pin Design Award Best of Year. These include "Infinity Bubble," a post-pandemic air-filtering residential concept that pioneers an independent isolation space by combining Miura-ori folding structures with magnetic levitation principles; "LIGHTAID," a compact, ergonomic emergency rescue tool that integrates CPR and AED functionalities; and "PAD CASE," a project that empowers Ugandan women to manufacture their own sanitary pads using local agricultural waste. Notably, "PAD CASE" simultaneously advanced to the finals for the Golden Pin Special Annual Award for Circular Design. Furthermore, "Grille Patterned Leather Artifacts," a project inspired by Taiwan’s classic decorative window grilles and executed through specialized leatherworking techniques, was shortlisted for the Golden Pin Design Award Special Sponsor Prize. To bridge the gap between academia and commerce, the exhibition has actively invited industry professionals to participate and collaborate, adopting a layout designed to streamline industry networking. In addition to the on-campus showcase, the exhibition is scheduled to be featured at the Young Designers' Exhibition (YODEX) at the Nangang Exhibition Center. A comprehensive online portfolio has also been launched, enabling remote audiences to explore the students' creations digitally. Through these multi-channel exhibitions, the department hopes to share the exceptional design energy of Taipei Tech with a broader global audience.
