Exhibition Period|2021/05/16~08/20
Jointly presented by the National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and National Taipei University of Technology, and executed by the Building Wang Da-hong Research and Preservation Society, this multifaceted commemorative event marks the third anniversary of the legendary architect Wang Da-hong's passing through a curated series of exhibitions, forums, concerts, and guided tours. Breaking away from traditional, macro-historical overviews of architectural movements, this exhibition shines a spotlight on the micro-level of "craftsmanship" within architectural language. By carefully selecting intimate, highly characteristic manual details from Wang’s blueprints and pairing them with his diverse lifelong creations, the exhibition reveals his unique worldview. This interplay between micro-ingenuity and macro-historical scope encapsulates the extraordinary contours of Wang Da-hong’s life. The exhibition utilizes the Taipei Tech Arts and Culture Center and the Main Pavilion Atrium as its primary venues, complemented by satellite displays across Academia Sinica, National Taiwan University, and National Cheng Kung University—all focusing tightly on the intricate structural details of Wang's portfolio. In the main hall, visitors are greeted by a comprehensive biographical timeline that contextualizes his life and dates his seminal works. The curation divides his architecture into "Public Infrastructure" and "Residential Design" through an extensive archive of photographs and texts. Special emphasis is placed on often-overlooked design intricacies, such as the chamfered corners of concrete pillars and the unique geometries of window frames, illustrating Wang’s uncompromising devotion to structural detail. Beyond architectural plates, the gallery showcases original design manuscripts, literary works penned in his later years, and miniature furniture models he originally designed for his own residence, solidifying his identity as a multifaceted creator. Offering a rich and immersive visual experience, this exhibition honors Wang’s microscopic focus. It invites viewers to cultivate a fresh perspective on the overlooked nuances of daily life while combing through historical memory to rediscover and savor the deep cultural nourishment left behind by a pioneer of this soil.
